The Island of California
California was named after a mythical island that was inhabited by amazon women who killed all men after they used them to give birth to new women. Queen Calafia was beautiful and strong as this California island was the paradise destination, warm climate, gold all over the place and mountains next to the sea. This California dream is still true today (except for the amazon women) only you have to search to find it. The riches of California are on the coastline and the many surfspots untouched along the North and Central Coast. This arcadian dream is also still there in Southern California during those mid afternoon glass off days and large swell days that clean out the crowds. This site is the search for the California dream. Through painting and photographs and imagination we can see the natural California landscape revealing itself to us.
